As a part of the Bantu Collective, Tay comes across as insanely talented and gifted in many ways. The singer, raised in Lagos and Abuja, began creating music at age fourteen. After Co-creating Bantu Collective in 2013, Tay released his debut compilation, 'Passport', in April 2014. Although it received little promotion and performed poorly upon its release, the album became a sleeper hit and helped Tay garner commercial standing.

It is from that stand, that he makes another entrance into the Nigerian space, with an EP, which is branded to evoke emotions. “Renascentia”, (Latin for ‘rebirth’) this 8-track project is handled solely by him, with just a few tweaks and touches co-credited to others. Moving away from the unimpressive fortunes of “Passport”, he makes another play at rebirthing his art.

This EP is one winding road through R&B, where Tay opens up with ‘Optimum Esse’, a deep confession about his life, where he seeks growth and self-fulfillment in Nigeria. This he does over a syrupy R&B beat. He launches into the main course of the day, a long, winding night in the company of his lover, where passion becomes a currency for creativity. On the erotic ‘Fores [E]’, his description of sex acts make the world go round, ‘Fraulein’, the top gem of this EP, which reads as an extension of its predecessor, only with more Trap drums and kicks. Promises and sweet nothings flow smoothly on ‘Nsomnia’, ‘Trust me’, and ‘Equestrian Love’, and ‘Ennnd’ (Deep connection).

There’s a burning hole in Tay’s being, one that brings forth sadly refreshing jams such as ‘Elysium’, he touches introspective territory with rap supplied by partner Suté. You get the feeling that the hollow in Tay’s soul is what he fills with love and the pleasures of sex. But it keeps resonating, even in his most passionate moments. He seeks more than love in his partner, with his needs too complex and deep, transcending the powers of love. He seeks purpose and a deeper meaning to his life. This search for self and the erotic compensation gotten from love is what delivers this super EP to you.
