So the long awaited, highly rated, over-hyped and super-advertised movie finally came out in the cinemas and we all insisted on seeing it on the very first day to avoid any one telling us what the movie was about.
So we marched to the cinema excited, curious and anxious to see what the movie had in store for us. Sincerely speaking our expectations were “extremely” high I must say. The reason for the expectation running out the roof was that this movie’s from the same producer Kunle Afolayan, who shot award winning movies like Figurine and October 1.
Also he’s got the best PR and Publicity strategy, he knows just how to sell and market his movies well way before time. So he goes on to create the buzz that keeps everyone desiring to see the movie.
Well this movie was no exception to the other ones he had done before now. I will say that I had to compare opinions and rating to decide on mine and my thoughts weren’t farfetched from the others I consulted.
In general it was a good movie. Usual good cast, location choice, production, storyline, suspense and thrill. But I sincerely don’t think my expectations were met nor surpassed. It was just not good enough. I had dreamt so much and envisaged so much that he had to do much more to keep us impressed and thrilled.

It was just not good enough. I had dreamt so much and envisaged so much that he had to do much more to keep us impressed and thrilled.
The 1hr 45mins movie was just the ideal timing for a Nigerian movie, not too long or short. Be sure to stay thrilled and entertained till the end. As it is expected of every Afolayan movie. We didn’t know who to suspect was until the very end and the least suspected turned out to be the bad guy.
The movie feature beautiful and amazing acts like Angelique Kidjo, Jimmy Jean Louis, Wale Ojo, Fatym Layache, Nico Ranagio, Kemi Lala Akindoju, and Vetran actree Hilda Dokunbo. The drama thriller had a good story line of how an international company needed to choose the next CEO. The exciting aspect about the movie was how the CEO’s died one after the other, it kept us wondering all through the movie.
CEO was shot on one of the best beach resorts on the outskits of Lagos. The movie was kind of a mystery-thriller, which revolved around the process of choosing the next CEO amongst the top five performing MD existing around Africa. They were all invited for a one week leadership retreat by their company to hold in Nigeria to decide on who will be the next CEO. They had a lady from Abijan, an MD from Kenya, another MD from South Africa and two delegates from Nigeria Mr. Kola and Yasmin.
The mysterious thing about this movie was the fact that every day anyone who missed out or failed during the musical chair died mysteriously that night. It all looked like they were witch hunted until the fourth day when it was just two of the MDs left and they became the final suspects. You will have to watch it to know which of them turned out to be the culprit. The movie shows how desperate people could be to get a position in an organization or space in the world. So desperate to the point of killing anyone that will stand as an hindrance. Beware of close friends wolves in sheep clothing.
Now to my verdict for this week, the storyline was unique, awesome cast, impressive production and location choice and so for these I will score the movie a 7/10. Left to how disappointed I was and how unsatisfied I felt, I won’t even be doing this review. That’s how sad I felt.
